Timing

We had a miracle this two weeks ago. Was it because of the pantalones milagrosos? It probably helped, but more than anything it was the Lord working His hand in His timing with His prepared people.

Mia* has been taking the lessons for mooonths now by the elders (the guy missionaries). She was never really comfortable with the elders and always asked rather argumentative questions instead of questions that would help her bring her closer to Christ. Struggling with the concept of Joseph Smith especially, she always declined the invitation for baptism. Her husband Chris* was a less active man who in recent months became really active. She has been attending church with him for the past several months.

Hermana Perez and I came to the area and though at first we were really intimated by her many questions, we simply answered them boldly and clearly and with love. Eventually the attacking questions ceased and she looked at us as real friends. As President Samuelian told Hermana Perez and I once upon a time, "All you have to do, is love the people. That's all you gotta do!" We held FHE's with her family and asked her about each and every obstacle that is preventing her from desiring to get baptized. Finally, after answering the last one of her concerns (the Word of Wisdom), she told us that she wanted Megan*, her 8-year-old daughter, to get baptized. We said, "well...how great would it be if you were to get baptized together...two weeks from today?" At first she was silent, and was just playing with her newborn on her lap. Hermana Perez and I didn't speak a word. We let the Spirit fill the room and she eventually broke the awkward silence by saying, "okay, esta bien." The look on her husband Chris's face is really a look I'll never forget. He was almost in tears, and he looked at her as if she were the most beautiful thing he has ever seen!! After we closed with a prayer we asked if there was anything more we can do for them, and Chris just said," Well, I think you just did enough."

Chris just received the Aaronic priesthood 3 weeks ago. He will be baptizing them both on the 8th of February at 6pm.

We can see so clearly the Lord's hand with the timing of everything that is happening. Chris's reactivation to the church...her daughter turning 8-years-old....Chris receiving the priesthood...sisters new to the area...all these things had to happen before Martha would enter the covenant of baptism.

The Lord is preparing everyone to receive the Gospel. Some people are prepared rather quickly, taking only one singular yet powerful event to push hem toward Christ. For others, it takes more time. Months and years may pass before an interest forms or a change of heart occurs. All we have to do is to make sure we are worthy of the Spirit, so that we ourselves can be used a tools in the Lord's preparation of these people.

Pray for someone that you know to receive the gospel. Pray for someone specifically, if you can. If you have already been praying for someone, don't give up. Prayers never go unheard. Let us all continue to work hard to be able to hear the answers :)
Hoorah for Israel!

Love you all,

Hermana Blanchard
