Simple Service

We have been teaching this jovencita named Lissandra. She is 9 years old and her mom is an incredibly less active member of the church. We've taught little Lissandra all the lessons, she reads the Book of Mormon, she prays, she wants to get baptized, but the problem is her Mom just can't seem to gather the willpower to get to church each Sunday.

We went to go see Lissandra's Mom one day and we planned on having maybe a more firm conversation about how we can help Lissandra get to church on Sunday. However, the conversation eventually led to what people in her life needed to hear the gospel. She wrote down the name of her acquaintance, Maria, to go see "anonymously." Maria's daughter and Lissandra are friends from school.

We immediately passed by and she let us in! She's a single mom with two sweet little girls. She had a severe accident which caused a fracture of some sort in her spine. As we were introducing the Book of Mormon, she shared with us many of her spiritual experiences that she's had with God. She even asked at one point, "I've never been baptized, but there are so many churches that I'm not even sure where to begin!"

We have come back later in the week and have begun to teach her the Restoration.

Haha are you sick of this topic yet? :) Some of you may think why all of the sudden the responsibility of missionary work is being pushed unto the members, and why we are getting all these conference talks, church talks, and Sunday school lessons all about member member member missionary work!

I guess the real question is, have we done anything since the last time we read or heard a talk about member missionary work?

Now you know why we have so many talks about member missionary work. ;)

We can serve in a variety of ways. If coming out with the missionaries and sitting in lessons doesn't seem to fit in our busy schedules, let us find other simpler ways to contribute! Think of someone who just had a baby. Just had a death in the family. Just moved in from somewhere far away. Think of someone who has just had some
life-changing event that makes them think about God a little bit more than they used to. Then pass these names to the missionaries. You can tell them to keep your name anonymous, if you so desire! You just never never know who within the orbit of our lives is ready to hear to the gospel!!

Remember the Lord's promise in the first book of Nephi,13:37:

"And blessed are they who shall seek to bring forth my Zion at that day, for they shall have the gift and the power of the Holy Ghost; and if they endure unto the end they shall be lifted up at the last day, and shall be saved in the everlasting kingdom of the Lamb; and whoso shall publish peace, yea, tidings of great joy, how beautiful upon the
mountains shall they be..."

I love doing the Lord's work! I can promise that the more you do it, the more you will love it. And the more The Lord will bless you. I just wanna testify that you really do "find your life" when you decide to lose it for the sake of The Lord!!

Thank you for all your love, letters and prayers!!! Until next week!

Hermana Blanchard
